CommuniCare volunteers are currently working with Family Pet Advocates to co-ordinate pet supply drives and are making cat and dog blankets and other items for the animals and their families receiving assistance.

CommuniCare is a program within Living in Fulfilling Environments (L.I.F.E.), Inc. that supports its participants’ desires for community service and civic engagement. The program offers its participants an improved sense of social responsibility; an improved sense of empathy and compassion; a boost in self esteem, confidence and pride of accomplishment from a job well done; helps to build greater interpersonal and critical thinking skills; and builds participants’ network and social capital, which can lead to internship or employment opportunities. CommuniCare is a service project-oriented program that creates a bridge between community needs and community support. This program is completely participant-driven in that the causes chosen to support are those that participants have deemed as being meaningful to them.

L.I.F.E. (Living in Fulfilling Environments), Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit agency that supports adults with developmental disabilities throughout the state of Rhode Island. One of L.I.F.E., Inc.’s main goals is to help its participants lead meaningful, purposeful and productive lives.
